An acquaintance of mine recently blurbed on facebook that he was having problems with friends that decided to go elsewhere to have their business needs met. The fact that they were
looking for other options bothered him personally enough that he posted about it. A few responses later he stated that what he was willing to do for free for them (I suppose as friends) was admittedly going to be not to standard as what his paying customers would get. ”No wonder” I thought.
Whether work is being done free of charge or not, integrity to standards should be kept at a consistent level. I recently gave a photo session up for a CHKD charity auction. The end result was that I had another fantastic photoshoot, a new friend of Woodruff Photography and, someone who recommended me on Linked-in. Word of mouth is a powerful tool. If you put out less then your best, its bound to get out there and sooner or later people will walk away.
